2023 SCHOOL DONATION REQUEST

You will be aware that we provide a wide range of opportunities to enhance your children’s learning experiences here at Victoria Avenue School. These opportunities are funded in part through government grants and in part through parent donations as they have been in previous years.

In line with MoE guidelines on Payments by Parents, we are no longer invoicing specifically for each additional resource that is provided to your children. We are therefore requesting tax deductible donations that are voluntary and for both general and specific purposes. A donations tax credit can be claimed on all voluntary donations to our school.

General Donations

Your contributions enable us to staff and fund these additional learning opportunities for all students at our school. This donation helps us to cover subscriptions, materials, trips, activities and resources. Parents will only be invoiced for transport costs.

We are aware of the current financial climate and the strain that this may put on families and have trimmed our budget to make no increase to the amount requested in our general donation for 2023. Should this contribution be difficult for your family please contact our principal, Jane Bush, to discuss this in confidence.

General Purpose Contribution

o $610

Online Learning Resources Contribution

o $40

Specific Donations

In order to support the school's drive to provide the best learning environment possible for our children we are requesting an additional contribution to help the board fund additional specialist staff and enhance our learning spaces to future proof our environment and learning programmes for your children.

Specialist Learning

You will be aware that our specialist teachers are a valuable resource for our school and all of our students enjoy specialist teachers in Music, PE and Digital Technology. Our specialist team enable us to provide enhanced learning opportunities for everyone.

Government staffing allowances and grants provide for classroom teachers, however additional specialist staffing over and above this is paid from the Board's funds at a cost of $440 per student. In order to continue to provide the range of specialist teaching, the Board would be grateful for any additional donations for this specific use. Please remember that a receipt is issued with all donations and that all donations are tax deductible.

Learning Environment

The Board has embarked on a 10 year master plan to enhance and future proof our school environment. This is an ambitious project and will be funded in part by government funding. Your donations will enable us to have the additional extras that ensure our VAS students have the optimal learning environment in which to flourish.

Claim your school donation tax rebates in myKindo this year

When you make your school donation in myKindo for 2023, you’ll see the option to opt-in to Supergenerous when you pay. Kindo and Supergenerous work together to lodge your donation rebate claim with the IRD. They do all the hard work for you and give you the option to regift your 33% tax rebate back to the school as a new donation. This is a great way to make your donation go further.

Online School Shop

Kindo is our preferred method of payment and we encourage you to set up your mykindo account as soon as possible (if you haven’t already done so). You can click on the shop link on our school website www.victoria-avenue.school.nz to get started or visit mykindo.co.nz. If you already have an existing Ezilunch account or mykindo account (at another school) just login and go to My Details to add your student at Victoria Avenue School. If you have any questions, please email accounts@victoria-avenue.school.nz or contact the office.

We are grateful for the generous support of our community that enables us to continue to provide the wide range of learning experiences our students enjoy – thank you for your continued support.

Thanks and regards,

John Thorman
